  Video: Diatonic tutor Manuel Savron performs Bésame MuchoThe prestigious Peter Soave Music Academy (PSMA) will take place from July 22nd to August 5th, 2018 in Sauris, a picturesque tiny alpine village nestled in the Dolomite mountains of Italy, bordering Austria. From the first seminars in 1999 organised by internationally renowned accordionist Peter Soave, the PSMA is a high-level music academy dedicated entirely to the accordion and its bellowed relatives. In the 2018, Manuel Šavron will be the teacher of the diatonic accordion course which is being presented for the first time. Other tutors include: Peter Soave (USA), Mady Soave (FRA), Viatcheslav Semionov (RU), Eddie Monteiro (USA), Mary Tokarski (USA) and many others! PSMA generously offers a rich musical experience that plunges each participant into the depths of musical artistry. This summer session includes workshops, intensive coaching, master classes, chamber music, and rehearsals culminating in concerts where participants and professionals will be playing side by side. The PSMA strongly recommend a full two-week immersion, although an "à la carte" program can also be arranged upon request. | schon jetzt vormerken - 14. Alpenländischer Harmonikabewerb im Flachauer Gutshof, 5541 Flachau 5. Oktober 2018 - 6. Oktober 2018 Ein Volksmusik-Wettbewerb für die Diatonische bzw. Steirische Harmonika für Teilnehmer aus Österreich, Bayern und Südtirol. Das Salzburger Volksliedwerk und das Musikum Salzburg laden am 5. und 6. Oktober 2018 zum 14. Alpenländischen Harmonikabewerb in den Flachauer Gutshof ein. Eingeladen sind gute Harmonikaspieler und Harmonikaspielerinnen (nur Diatonische Harmonika bzw. Steirische Harmonika!) aus allen österreichischen Bundesländern, aus Bayern und Südtirol, die nicht älter als 25 Jahre sind und Volksmusik im Sinne alpenländischer Tradition spielen. An die 150 TeilnehmerInnen aus Österreich und Bayern nehmen alle drei Jahre an diesem seit 1976 stattfindendem Wettbewerb für die Steirische Harmonika teil. Entweder als Solist, im Duo, in der Improvisation oder als Liedbegleiter werden die jungen HarmonikaspielerInnen von der Jury in persönlichen Gesprächen mit Tipps und Tricks, wie sie ihr Spiel verbessern können, beraten. Erfahrungsaustausch und musikalisches Erlebnis stehen im Mittelpunkt für die jugendlichen MusikerInnen. Neben dem Bewerb gibt es die Veranstaltung "Erlebnis Harmonikabewerb". Trachtenmodenerzeuger und Harmonikabauer präsentieren im Rahmen des Wettbewerbs ihre Produkte. Die Modenschauen dieser Aussteller werden musikalisch von den Teilnehmern des Wettbewerbs begleitet. Festabende am 05. und 06.10.2018 präsentieren ausgewählte, beim Wettbewerb mit "Ausgezeichnetem Erfolg" bewertete, Harmonikaspieler. Als musikalische Gäste bekannte Musik und Gesangsgruppen. (DHV), the Finals being held 31 May to 03 June 2018 in Bruchsal. The 2018 Musik-Preis competitions are for solo, duo, chamber music ensembles and ensembles of various instruments. For diatonic: Category 8.1 Diatonische Handharmonika, Steirische usw. | Solo For Steirische: Category 8.2 Diatonische Handharmonika, Steirische usw. Duo und Ensemble Their are also competition categories for Mundharmonika (mouth organ). Participants must be under 27 years and have their permanent residence in Germany. The competitions are divided into two phases. Phase 1 (already held) was 16 qualification competitions around Germany and Phase 2 is the Final Competition in Bruchsal, also open for professional instrumentalists. | 8° Premio ETNIE MUSICALI - edizione 2018 Concorso Internazionale di gruppi Folk REGOLAMENTO Le selezioni per il Concorso Internazionale si svolgeranno in diversi incontri e sono regolate dai seguenti punti: 1) Il premio Etnie Musicali si svolgerà all’interno degli appuntamenti del V° Festival del Saltarello e vi potranno prendere parte i gruppi di qualsiasi nazione e con strumenti di qualsiasi tipo e marca, elettrici e acustici. 2) Il Concorso si articolerà nell’unica Sezione GRUPPI FOLK "Premio Internazionale ETNIE MUSICALI“. I gruppi dovranno essere composti da un minimo di due elementi fino a un massimo non definito. 3) Il Concorso si articolerà nella seguente modalità: a) La fase di PRESELEZIONE ON LINE, alla quale si accede GRATUITAMENTE, prevede l’invio di materiale audio/video del progetto musicale da selezionare alla mail: festivaldelsaltarello@gmail.com b) I gruppi che avranno superato la PRESELEZIONE ON LINE potranno partecipare alle selezioni che si svolgeranno in ogni tappa del Festival del Saltarello e i primi 10 gruppi preselezionati riceveranno un rimborso spese fino a un massimo di 300 euro.  Texas Folklife and the Bullock Texas State History Museum held the Finals for the annual Big Squeeze Accordion Contest and Concert at the museum on Saturday April 21, 2018. The 2018 Big Squeeze competition winners were (picture above, left to right): Cajun/Zydeco: Steven Williams, Polka: Peter Gresser, Conjunto 17 under: Melanie Gonzalez, Conjunto 18-21 Anthony Ortiz Jr prize: Jesus Venegas Big Squeeze finalists performed before the judges and the public accompanied by house band Conjunto Los Pinkys after which there was showcase performances by: - Grammy-nominated musician and producer Alex Meixner, - Los Fresnos High School Conjunto Halcon and - Conjunto Los Pinkys Texas Folklife gave a general thank you to all the contestants, and commented that the judges decisions were very hard as every player was exceptional. Texas Folklife's goal is to encourage young accordion players to carry on these vital traditions. |

| 2018 Fleadh Nua in Ennis promises to be an exciting and innovative festival, full to the brim with Concerts, Ceilis, Sessions, CD Launches, Recitals, Irish Dance competitions and Street Entertainment. Since 1974 Fleadh Nua has developed from a 3 day event to a festival spanning 8 days, with more than 120 separate events, where there is a welcome for everyone. There are many Irish traditional festivals organised throughout the summer months but there are few people who will dispute that Fleadh Nua which started in Dublin in 1970, is the forerunner of them all. The concept of bringing together concerts, céilithe, music, song and dancing workshops, street entertainment, and much more was innovative in its time. However, it's still a winning formula today as evidenced by the thousands of visitors who flock to the festival every May for a week of unsurpassed traditional entertainment. While the town of Ennis has lost nothing of its warmth and welcome since Fleadh Nua was first held there in 1974, one thing that has definitely changed is the time it takes to get to the capital of County Clare. With the new motorway network connecting directly to the town, Dublin is now only 2½ hours away by car. There are rail links to Ennis from Limerick, Cork, Galway, Dublin, Waterford and Tralee. Shannon International Airport has connections to North America, Britain and Mainland Europe and is only a 20 minute drive from Ennis. There are numerous bus services to and from Ennis, operated by Bus Éireann and Citylink, connecting the town to all the major population centres in the country.  The 37th Tejano Conjunto Festival en San Antonio is scheduled for May 16-20, 2018The Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center will host the 37th Annual Tejano Conjunto Festival May 16-20, 2018, at the historic Guadalupe Theater and Rosedale Park in San Antonio, Texas. The festival expects to draw over 5,000 Conjunto music lovers from across Texas, the U.S., Mexico, as well as international visitors. Executive Director Cristina Ballí will direct and curate the festival and Juan Tejeda, founder of the Tejano Conjunto Festival, will serve as advisor. The festival will feature some of the very best and most popular bands in Conjunto music complemented by plenty of dancing, food and beverage booths in a family-friendly environment.
