| The first concerto for Bandoneon and Chamber Orchestra has been recorded in Novi Sad, Serbia (Nov. 15-16, 2019). The 3-min. promo-video will give you an idea of the entire piece. Participating in this project are musicians of the Zrenjaninski Kamerni Orkestar, the entire audio recording crew at Studio M and the video recording crew, led by Srecko Milosavljevic. The conductor, Thommy Andersson, the executive producer, Lelo Nika, the orchestra manager, Roman Bugar and the assistant Katrine Krog Russo. ••••••••••••••••••••••••••• Paolo Russo (b. 1969) - pianist, bandoneonist and composer BANDONEON CONCERTO NR. I (with chamber orchestra) 3-movement bandoneon concerto (approx. duration: 24 minutes). Post-Piazzolla tango-oriented work that presents also elements of classical, folk, jazz and film-music. The general idea is to transcend the limits imposed by the dominant tango tradition, in order to explore other musical horizons and propose alternative scenarios, however without renouncing completely to its peculiar and characteristic language, where the bandoneon can find new life as solo instrument combined with a dialoguing and articulated use of the orchestra. |

 From the 10th - 12th of January 2020 the small town of Cygnet will again play host to the annual Cygnet Folk Festival. This year will be the 38th Cygnet Folk Festival, one of Australia’s most iconic folk music festivals. Very highly regarded by musicians and festival-goers from all over Australia and overseas, competition to come to Cygnet is at an all time high amongst performers, and last year we had a record number of applications! The Festival is a showcase of eclectic music genres featuring both local and international talent, dance, poetry, masterclasses, film, kids' entertainment, food, wine, art and local handicrafts all set in the breathtaking scenery of Tasmania's Huon Valley.Musicians and volunteers plan their annual holidays around coming to Cygnet in January each year and many come from interstate and overseas especially to be part of this wonderful event.  Zondag 23 februari 2020 Amsterdam, Q Factory11.00 -15.45 uur – € 30 Klezmer spelen op de trekharmonica betekent dat je te maken krijgt met bijzondere akkoordbegeleidingen, ritmes en versieringen. Welke akkoorden gebruik je links én rechts? Hoe kun je improviseren aan de hand van klezmertoonladders? En hoe komen we op deze dag tot een mooi samenspel met meerdere partijen, liefst ook met een of twee andere instrumenten erbij? Vanwege de enthousiaste reacties geeft Auke nogmaals een workshop klezmer in Amsterdam. De workshop is bedoeld voor niveau midden/gevorderd en we spelen op trekharmonica C/F. Speel je ook andere instrumenten zoals dwarsfluit, viool, saxofoon of gitaar? Neem die dan ook maar mee! Want tijdens deze workshop gaan we uiteindelijk ook proberen tot écht samenspel te komen. De combinatie met een paar andere instrumenten geeft heel verrassende effecten. Je krijgt de tablatuur (melodie, bassen én ritmes) met geluidsbestanden kort na je inschrijving toegestuurd, zodat je de melodieën vast kunt oefenen. Je ontvangt tevens een overzicht met klezmertoonladders en met akkoordcombinaties. Hier zal Auke in de workshop nader op ingaan. De workshop is geschikt voor mensen die aan (een van) de eerdere klezmer-workshops van Auke in Amsterdam hebben deelgenomen, maar óók voor nieuwe inschrijvers.  Diatonic accordeon – Melodeon in Italian music – Andrea Capezzuoli (Italy) from a medium levelThe accordion music of northern Italy is similar to the French one, but it has some differences. The most used rhythms are 6/8 and 2/4 with which you can perform curente, gige, polka and saltarello. In particular, the repertoire of the Bolognese Apennines is very virtuosic. The common denominator of Italian music is joy and a sense of party. But there are also romantic songs, waltzes and mazurkas. The workshop will therefore offer an overview of northern Italian music: Curente from Occitania (province of Cuneo), monferrine, mazurke and waltzes from Piedmont and "dances detached (Balli staccati)" from the Bolognese Apennines. Required model: G/C with at least eight basses or extended models.  Die NiachtnGenre: Pop, Folk, Mundart Die Band „Die Niachtn“ besteht in dieser Formation seit dem Jahre 2009 und hat ihre Wurzeln in Bad Mitterndorf und in der steirisch/österreichischen Volkskultur. Viele verschiedene Einflüsse die die Musiker schon mitbrachten haben sehr bald die Richtung der Band bestimmt. Während Manuel Lichtenauer an der „Rumpü“ (Steirische Harmonika) aus dem Volksmusikalischen Sektor kommt, sind die Wurzeln von Manuel Brunnsteiner, der neben vielen anderen Instrumenten hauptsächlich die Akustik- und E-Gitarre spielt, die Metal- und die Rockmusik. TradFest has commissioned Danu’s Tom Doorley to compose a new work by the NFOI “Machnamh – Airs and Songs of Kilmainham” to be performed in the historic Kilmainham Gaol. In 2016 the Orchestra presented “MACALLA 1916” which was again specially commissioned by Comhaltas to commemorate the Easter Rising.
