| 1999 fand die 1. Harmonika-WM in Außervillgraten/Osttirol statt und war gleich ein sehr großer Erfolg. Im Jahre 2003 wurde dieser Erfolg wiederholt. Danach ging der in der Zwischenzeit sehr etablierte Wettbewerb „auf Reisen“ und kehrt nun zum 10. Jubiläum wieder in das malerische Tal in Osttirol zurück! Die Osttiroler Gemeinde Außervillgraten hat sich um die Austragung beworben und sehr gerne den Zuschlag erhalten. Alle Formalitäten sind erledigt – und so steht diesem internationalen Harmonika-Ereignis nichts mehr im Wege. Gleichzeitig wird der nächste Österreichische Wettbewerb (Staatsmeisterschaft) für Steirische Harmonika und Volksmusikgruppen durchgeführt! !!! | Bad St. Leonhard. Der Gemeinderat der Stadtgemeinde Bad St. Leonhard hat in seiner Sitzung vom 19. Dezember den einstimmigen Beschluss gefasst, dem Unternehmen Harmonika Müller GmbH in Würdigung und Anerkennung seiner besonderen Verdienste und Leistungen um die heimische Wirtschaft sowie aus Anlass des 40-jährigen Bestehens, das Recht zur Führung des Stadtwappens zu verleihen. Im Rahmen der Betriebs-Weihnachtsfeier im Cafe Restaurant Badido wurde der Familie Müller im Beisein von Vertretern aller im Gemeinderat vertretenen Parteien, das Stadtwappen aus Holz überreicht. This January, continues the tradition of bringing spicy-hot music, culture and cuisine from Louisiana and Southern Appalachia to Montpelier, Vermont for the annual city-wide shindig. Featured is Cedric Watson (picture right), one of the bright talents to emerge in Cajun, Creole, and Zydeco music in recent years. The Summit School is a non-profit folk music school located in Montpelier, Vermont. Hosting ongoing group classes in music and dance for children and adults. Dieser internationale Wettbewerb bekommt von Jahr zu Jahr mehr an Bedeutung und ist zu einem der gröβten Wettbewerbe seiner Art in Slowenien und in Europa geworden. Beeindruckend ist, dass die Teilnehmerzahl unter den jüngeren Teilnehmern von Jahr zu Jahr wächst. Dies freut uns ganz besonders, denn so bleibt die Art der Volkmusik, welche die Brüder Slavko und Vilko Avsenik mit ihren Original Oberkrainern gründeten, immer lebendig und wird nie in Vergessenheit geraten. | From the 6th - 8th of January 2017 the small town of Cygnet will again play host to the annual Cygnet Folk Festival. This year will be the 35th Cygnet Folk Festival, one of Australia’s most iconic folk music festivals. Very highly regarded by musicians and festival-goers from all over Australia and overseas, competition to come to Cygnet is at an all time high amongst performers, and last year we had a record number of applications! The Festival is a showcase of eclectic music genres featuring both local and international talent, dance, poetry, masterclasses, film, kids' entertainment, food, wine, art and local handicrafts all set in the breathtaking scenery of Tasmania's Huon Valley. Musicians and volunteers plan their annual holidays around coming to Cygnet in January each year and many come from interstate and overseas especially to be part of this wonderful event. The incredible talent of local and visiting musicians is celebrated over the January weekend and we are proud that so many amazing performers and festival goers take part in what the Festival has to offer each year. The Cygnet Folk Festival began in 1982 and is a not-for-profit community event organised by a volunteer management committee (Huon Folk Inc), a paid Festival Manager & Artistic Director and many dedicated people volunteering their time and expertise. | Festival de la música autóctona, con la presentación de unos quince números musicales por noche, cuadros argumentales y danzas folklóricas, a los que se suman los ganadores de la final del pre-festival. Este año la organización del Instituto de Cultura propone el tema “Universo Chamamé” invitando a reflexionar sobre la riqueza y la multiplicidad de actores y componentes de la “cultura chamamecera”. Este concepto estará presente en la estética de la fiesta, en la programación artística, en los foros y conferencias, en las muestras y en otras actividades que además buscarán enriquecer el espíritu central de esta fiesta identitaria: la celebración. SVÄNG has clearly set new standards when it comes to concert music on the harmonica – both in terms of repertoire as well as technique. Now we are releasing our fifth album “KARJA-LA” with the German label Galileo. The master piece doesn’t only include tunes derived from traditional Finnish folk music and Balkan rhythms, but also features elements making reference to Sibelius, Merikanto and other national romantic composers. The new album is perhaps a bit darker and more personal than the previous ones. The rhythmical fireworks which has become a Sväng signature is still present. In general Sväng stretch their repertoire undogmatically wide and invite their audience to an extraordinary journey of sounds: a free-spirited, sensual and vital mix of music, which has been honored with the attribute of the „harmonica equivalent of the Kronos-Quartet“.  2010 wurde Gnackwatschn, eine Ska-Punk-Formation mit starken VolXmusik-Einflüssen, in der Steiermark, dem grünen Herzen Österreichs, gegründet. Anfang 2011 gab es nach ersten Gehversuchen die erste gröbere Umbesetzung, die Band startete umgehend mit dem seither stabilem Line-up Robert Steinberger (g/v), Daniel Leskowschek (b/bv), Gregor Krenker (h), Christoph Veit (tr) und Bernhard Liebminger (dr) durch. So konnte man sich 2011 beim größten heimischen Bandwettbewerb Local Heroes gegen 300 Mitbewerber durchsetzen und spielte in weiterer Folge im Vorprogramm von namhaften Künstlern wie Fiddler’s Green, Russkaja, Alkbottle und Guadalajara. 2012 durfte man sich gar von abertausend frenetischen Besuchern am FM4 Frequency und am Steirerfestival am Red Bull Ring abfeiern lassen. Ende des Jahres wurde auch endlich das selbstbetitelte Debüt vorgestellt und von Fans und der Fachpresse gleichermaßen wohlwollend aufgenommen: die jungen Steirer haben den Zahn der Zeit getroffen. 2013 wirkten Gnackwatschn mit „Jetz is da Summer do“ als Sommerhit-Lieferant für eine der ältesten Großbrauereien der Steiermark, Puntigamer, und stellten im Folgejahr mit Erwin Wonisch an der Posaune auch einen Neuzugang in der Band-Besetzung vor. 2014 kündigte die neue Single „Guate Oite Zeit“ bereits die Marschrichtung für den Zweitling an: Die volksmusikalischen Strukturen wurden verhärtet und verfeinert, das Soundgewand bekam eine größere Tiefe verpasst. Im kollektiv-basisdemokratischen Arbeitsprozess geriet der Zweitling „Im Talon“, der am 6.
