| Folkarria eco Festi-bal es un festival de música folk. Folkarria eco Festi-bal pretende recuperar y difundir tanto las danzas tradicionales como la música folk europea, haciendo de ellas un instrumento para la integración de diferentes culturas, combinándolas con acciones de sensibilización ecológica y consumo responsable, además de una serie de actividades participativas para adultos y niñ@s. La 6ª edición de "Folkarria eco Festi-bal" se desarrollará una vez más a lo largo de todo un fin de semana, presentando una oferta musical de grupos nacionales e internacionales. Además, habrá talleres de instrumentos y talleres de danza de diversas partes del mundo y actuaciones del folklore español tradicional para todos los públicos. El festival ofrece paralelamente un mercado eco-solidario, feria de artesanía, espacio para debates, exposiciones y otras actividades, como talleres de juego, arte, y movimiento para niños y actuaciones del folklore tradicional popular. Le voilà qui se rebelle, vous donne du soufflet à retordre... Vous êtes un peu désemparé ? Je serai heureuse de partager mes p'tites astuces et conseils pour vous lancer dans l'aventure diatonique du bon pied ! :-) Elle vous propose donc dans cet atelier de partager sa expérience en mettant l'accent avant tout sur la musicalité. Mis a point seront les bases : position, apprentissage des claviers, utilisation de la soupape, phrasé, maîtrise du soufflet, respirations et autres nuances et subtilités... Et on approfondira l'enrichissement de votre jeu par la découverte de variations rythmiques main gauche et main droite (accords) sur des rythmes de base (2 temps et/ou 3 temps). L'objet de cet atelier ne sera pas l'apprentissage de répertoire, mais la découverte de nouveaux « outils », la proposition d'une méthodologie pour progresser de manière efficace, et la prise de conscience de certains « défauts » ou mauvaises habitudes afin d'en épurer son jeu.  avec Tiennet Simonnin - 9/10 Avril 2016 OUVERT AUX CHROMATIQUES Ce stage, ouvert aux accordéons diatoniques et chromatiques, a pour objectif de donner des clés d'interprétation pour la bourrée 3 temps d'Auvergne. En s'appuyant sur des thèmes traditionnels, on étudiera le jeu main droite (phrasé, ornements, diversification du jeu main droite, introductions et signatures) puis le jeu main gauche (phrasé, harmonisation basique, harmonisation « à la manière de Jean Vaissade », jeu mélodique et semi-mélodique, jeu en contrechant, chants de basses, alternance des basses et des accords). On s'interrogera également sur la notion de « cadence » (questions autour du tempo, de la régularité...). Enfin, un bref aperçu historique du jeu de bourrée à l'accordéon sera proposé, avec écoute de quelques accordéonistes auvergnats. Justin Bieber may be top of the pops but, when it comes to traditional Scottish music, Mohsen Amini is the king. The concertina player is not your classic pop pin-up but, in the world of Celtic music, he definitely has the X Factor. Mohsen, of South Park, Glasgow, made history last month when he became the first squeeze box player to be crowned BBC Radio Scotland’s Young Traditional Musician of the Year. The talented 22-year-old, who travels the world playing in four folk bands, has also earned a Sunday Mail Young Scot Awards nomination in the arts category. Mohsen, whose mum is English and dad is Iranian, is first to admit he is not your typical traditional Scots musician. He said: “I think it’s kind of funny to be named Scotland’s Young Traditional Musician of the Year as, although I was born and bred in Glasgow, I’m actually half-English and half-Iranian. “I’m also chuffed to be the first concertina player to win the title, which is not only brilliant for me but also for the incredible instrument, which is often overlooked and forgotten about. The year has just started and I’ve already won a music award and been nominated for Young Scot. It doesn’t get much better than this – 2016 is shaping up to be quite an event.” Mohsen, who started playing the concertina at 10 years old, never leaves home without his precious £7000 instrument. The former St Ninian’s pupil said: “My sister Sophia was really into Irish dancing when she was younger and I used to go and watch her in competitions. One day, one of the musicians let me have a shot of his concertina and from that moment I was hooked. “I mucked about on it until I figured out what to do with it. “I haven’t a clue why it struck a chord with me but it did. Playing the concertina just came naturally and, once I started, I could not stop. “Over the years, I’ve been tutored by the amazing folk musicians Mairi Campbell and Catriona McArdle but, most of the time, I’ve just been teaching myself. I play for eight hours every day. My concertina and I are inseparable. I take it everywhere with me. It’s a good job it’s not too big but is very portable. “The one I have at the minute is 120 years old and cost £7000. It was disgustingly expensive and took me nearly 10 years to save up for it. But it was well worth it as I appreciate its value and it is extra special to me. “I’m terrified of anything happening to it and rarely let it out of my sight. Luckily, it’s small enough to take on planes as hand luggage but I do get funny looks when I am going through security.” Mohsen, who spent his childhood playing at fleadhs all over Ireland, is now a full- time musician after quitting university to pursue his musical career. “I was studying chemical engineering at Strathclyde University but dropped out halfway through because I knew I could not commit to the course. My passion was the concertina and I realised I would rather make one-tenth of what I would make as an engineer playing music and doing what I love. So far, I’m managing to make a living by gigging and working part-time for a roofing company.” Mohsen, whose grandfather was Irish, plays in four bands – Talisk, Imar, Fourth Moon, and The Low Ground. He said: “I love the whole folk music scene and the camaraderie between musicians is fantastic. I’ve travelled all over Europe with Talisk and Fourth Moon. Imar are a new quintet who just launched last month and one of our videos on YouTube has already gone viral with 150,000 views. Folk music is becoming more popular.” The Celtic Connections regular, who also plays the penny whistle and guitar, says his mum Susan and dad Hossein have grown to love his music. He added: “They’ve had to put up with a lot over the years with me practising at all hours of the day and night. There were times when they screamed at me to give it a rest at two in the morning but they’ve learned to love my concertina nearly as much as me. I know they are proud of what I have achieved.” |

to be Held on Saturday, May 7, 2016, at Bullock Texas State History Museum in AustinTexas Folklife is pleased to announce the Big Squeeze Tenth Anniversary Extravaganza Concert, to be held on Saturday May 7 at the Bullock Texas State History Museum. The concert will celebrate the 10-year anniversary of Texas Folklife’s Big Squeeze statewide youth accordion contest, and feature past contest winners who will showcase a variety of Texas-based accordion genres including conjunto, polka, Cajun, and zydeco. In this important anniversary year, Texas Folklife is focusing its resources on celebrating the successful fruition of the program and showcasing the past winners of the Big Squeeze. These young accordion players have become stars and leaders in their communities. Following this year of celebration, the Big Squeeze will be back on the road to look for exceptional young accordion players across the state. In addition, with the recent rekindling of the Apprenticeship Program, Texas Folklife is helping to nurture young accordion talent by pairing young apprentices with mentors throughout the state. Since its launch in 2007, the Big Squeeze has helped Texas Folklife carry out its mission to preserve and promote Texas’s diverse cultural heritage. Through the Big Squeeze program, Texas Folklife has built a reputation as a champion of Texas accordion music genres, and supported over 200 young, talented players in their efforts to carry on these community-based accordion music traditions. In order to better nurture the young talent throughout the state, Texas Folklife restructured the popular contest in 2014 to include three Grand Prize Winners, each from one of three main accordion genres—polka, zydeco, and conjunto. The polka genre included German, Czech, and Polish traditions, while Cajun/zydeco included Creole and Cajun musical traditions, and conjunto included norteño and Tejano. As a result of these efforts, the Big Squeeze welcomed a diverse class of six total champions in 2014 and 2015, including the first-ever female contest winner, Elisabeth Kelley (Cajun). The Tenth Anniversary Extravaganza Concert will reflect the array of unique Texas accordion music traditions by featuring a diverse lineup of past Big Squeeze champions. “The 10-year anniversary of the Big Squeeze is a great opportunity for celebrating the work our organization and our partners across the state have accomplished since 2007 to nurture young Texas accordion talent,” said Texas Folklife Programs & Development Director Charlie Lockwood. “Many past winners of the contest have gone on to form their own bands and launch professional performance or music education careers. We are excited this year to be able to bring them back to Austin to celebrate their achievements and highlight the impact of the Big Squeeze as a statewide program." | In How to Play Diatonic Button Accordion Volume One, Two and Three by Henry Doktorski taught the basic techniques of playing the one-row Italian-style squeezebox: playing in first position, two bellow directions, left-hand accompaniment and playing in second position. We learned the pitches from low sol up to do more than an octave higher. We learned to play bass & chords together as well as separately, including alternating basses. We learned some solo passages in the left hand and played two dozen different pieces including bugle calls, nursery rhymes, folk tunes from many different nationalities including a classic song by Stephen Foster. In How to Play Diatonic Button-Accordion * Volume Two with CD, Henry Doktorski will teach you the third, fourth, fifth and sixth positions; essentially acquainting you with the entire range of the one-row button-accordion from low sol to high mi: a span of twenty different pitches, including two sharps or flats. With these additional notes you will be able to play more complex music, such as elaborate folk music from the United States, Scotland, Germany, Ireland, Italy and Israel. Volume Two published by Santorella Publications, also includes Patriotic tunes, beloved Christian hymns, Polkas and a few popular Christmas carols. Although the ability to read music is not required to study this method book, it would be helpful, if only to be able to readily discern when to change right hand positions. As the music becomes more complex, hand positions change more frequently.
