 This year for the 3rd time – in Halle – the Akkordeon Akut Festival!We read: “How was the idea of the accordion festival?” …giving birth to an international according festival in Halle/Saale: The instrument itself together with its relatives bandoneon, harmonium and concertina (to name just a few) offer such a wide variety in sound and style, that it is absolutely no problem to do a whole series of festivals with them. These instruments have become an integral part of various musical traditions in many parts of the world like the Tango in Argentina, the chanson in France and in Russia Forró in Brazil, Irish Folk and many more. The accordion has also very strong roots in Middle Germany with factories in Gera, Magdeburg and Klingenthal. These instrument makers partly still have an international reputation and there are a lot of accordion orchestras in this region as a legacy of this vital scene. In the musical schools of the Region around Halle alone, there are 11 active accordion ensembles comprised of youngsters who not only care for the traditions but also add new flavors and show possible future directions and new possibilities for the instrument…. | 19. Oktober 2012 Finale in Meran Der Alpen Grand Prix ist ein Musikwettbewerb der „Schlager“ und „Volksmusik“ der seit 1993 jährlich in Südtirol stattfindet. Bis 1996 nahmen ausschließlich nur Interpreten aus Südtirol teil. Seit 1997 ist der Alpen Grand Prix International und Teilnehmer aus Deutschland, Österreich, Schweiz, Italien, Slowenien, Kroatien, Frankreich, Niederlande, Polen, Ungarn und USA haben daran bereits teilgenommen. Die Gesangssprache ist Deutsch. Der Alpen Grand Prix ein Internationaler Musikwettbewerb für Interpreten, Komponisten, Texter, Produzenten und Verlage. In den letzten Jahren gab es beim Alpen Grand Prix getrennte Wertungen für die Bereiche Schlager und Volksmusik. Der Alpen Grand Prix zählt zu einem der bedeutendsten Musikwettbewerb in der Sparte Schlager und Volksmusik. | La Orquesta Típica Andariega was created in September 2009 on the initiative of the pianist Pauline Nogues. Based on a shared passion for tango as a powerful popular music and cultural expression for the mixed and colourful Buenos Aires, La Andariega has taken a contemporary path in order to develop their own style of tango by interpreting and arranging classic tangos and writing new compositions in the genre. The orchestra consists of nine musicians and accompanists with the traditional tango format of 3 violins, 3 bandoneons, a piano, a double bass and a singer. In May 2010 the The Typical Orchestra Andariega began to present it self on stage in Buenos Aires and the tango audience enjoyed the dynamics in the performance of the group and appreciated the energetic style of the music for dancing and as well as for listening. The Typical Orchestra Andariega is conscious of the desperate need to make the new tango expression known and to revive tango for new generations. The orchestra also wi shes to support the creative development and the difusion of tango as a popular urban music of Buenos Aires and as live music performed by young people.  Von 31. August bis 2. September fand in Pfelders / Südtirol das 1. Meisterseminar für Steirische Harmonika statt. Drei Tage lang unterrichteten Alexander Pamer (oben rechts), der Gewinner der Österreichischen Staatsmeisterschaft 2012, Eduard Huber (links), mehrfacher Südtirolmeister, und Michael Rettig (Mitte), zweifacher Weltmeister, die rund 25 Teilnehmer des Seminars. Dabei wurde den Teilnehmern zwischen 8 und 37 Jahren vor allem die neue Literatur für Steirische Harmonika näher gebracht, aber auch an der musikalischen Ausarbeitung und Technik wurde gefeilt.Schon am Donnerstag trafen sich die Teilnehmer, um sich kennenzulernen. Die Unterrichtseinheiten fanden jeweils am Vor- und Nachmittag in der Grundschule in Pfelders statt. Abends wurde in den Gasthäusern musiziert. Dabei zeigten alle Teilnehmer in begeisterter Stimmung der Zuhörer, was sie gelernt hatten. Am Samstag konnten die Teilnehmer verschiedene Modelle eines slowenischen Harmonikaherstellers bei einer Ausstellung testen. Das Meisterseminar endete am Sonntag mit einem Frühschoppen und der Verteilung der Teilnahmebestätigung. Ein großer Dank geht an Alexander Pamer, der das Seminar hervorragend organisiert hat. | Mundharmonika: Getting on the Train - Mundharmonika für Einsteiger 1-4.11.2012 mit Dale King Klein, aber fein – die Mundharmonika ist ein Instrument, das über ein immenses Klang- und Ausdrucksspektrum verfügt. Dieser Kurs will Einsteigern einen ersten Zugang in die Klangwelt der Mundharmonika bieten, die in zahlreichen Folklorerichtungen und auch als „Blues Harp“ im amerikanischen Blues beheimatet ist. Sie lernen die richtige Mundstellung und wie man den elementaren Vorgang des Ein- und Ausatmens aufs Instrument überträgt. Auch als Anfänger und ohne Notenkenntnisse bringen Sie schnell die kleinen Metallzungen zum Schwingen und spielen bald ihre ersten Melodien. Weiterführende Spieltechniken wie Tremolo, Wah-Wah und Vibrato verdeutlichen, wie Sie im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes „im Handumdrehen“ den Klang dieses handlichen Instrumentes verfeinern können: Zugimitationen sowie viele kleine Riffs und Atemübungen werden für Spaß sorgen und die Teilnehmer in Erstaunen über die eigene Leistung versetzen. Auch Improvisationstechniken in Folk und Blues werden behandelt. Die individuelle Betreuung durch den erfahrenen Kursleiter, der die Gruppe auch auf der Gitarre begleiten wird, sorgt dafür, dass jeder nach seinen Möglichkeiten in den Klangreichtum dieses „Hosentaschen-Instrumentes“ vordringt. | This year’s Big Squeeze: aka O.C. Accordion Festival scheduled for Sunday, October 14 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Orange County Market Place in Costa Mesa will pair up its various accordion based bands with dance experts, teachers and champions. The Main Stage will spotlight music from the Louisiana Bayou with Zydeco and Cajun dance style teacher A.J. Gibbs revving up the audience on the dance floor for three bands playing everything from Louisiana Swamp pop to sophisticated New Orleans tunes. Headlining at 2:30 PM is Jo Jo Reed and the Happy Hill Zydeco Band from Louisiana. Reed has been playing and writing music since his high school years at St. Edmund's in Eunice, Louisiana where he graduated in 1989. His original music has given him his own style of Zydeco music, which is an extension from its traditional roots. But in order to attract both young and old to the dance floor he does popular covers, as well as captures the sounds of Zydeco from the days when Boozoo Chavis and Beau Jocque were at their peaks. David Sousa and the Zydeco Mudbugs will kick off the Bayou sound on the main stage at 11 a.m. followed by Bonne Musique Zydeco ,a six member band with Dennis Gurwell on accordion, squeezing out a variety of Zydeco and Cajun, tunes at 12:45 PM. On another stage several dance styles will be showcased through exhibitions, lessons and follow the leader sessions, while accompanied by accordion based bands and soloists. Included is Jim Gilman (aka The Squeezinator) playing West Coast Swing and Latin dance music for Gina Tucci, a winner of the Supreme Dance Award in West Coast Swing who will show her winning moves with partner Allen Cofield and then follow with a Cha-Cha lesson. Father daughter dance team, Norbert and Natalie Bernhardt will bring their polka and waltzing talents to the floor while The Fred Mlakar Band, a Slovenian polka band, provides the music back up. Die Micmacs halfen den Siedlern sich in dem neuen Land zurecht zufinden und schon bald, isoliert von Frankreich, bildeten sie eine eigene Identität. Sie nannten ihre neue Heimat "L’Acadie", eine Wortschöpfung der Micmac Indianer und was soviel heißt wie "Das fruchtbare Land" . Sie wurden bekannt als "Les Acadien" oder "Acadians" und entwickelten sich in 150 Jahren zu einem eigenständigen Volk weit weg von Europa. Die Acadiens wurden vielmehr ein Teil der neuen Welt und kombinierten viele kulturelle Einflüsse zu einem ganz eigenständigen Lebensstil. Im Jahre 1755 befanden sich die Acadiens im Kreuzfeuer des Krieges zwischen den Engländern und Franzosen. Sie lehnten es ab, der englischen Krone die Treue zu schwören und wurden daraufhin gewaltsam von den Engländern aus ihrem Heimatland vertrieben. Sehr viele Acadiens kamen dabei ums Leben. Einige der Vertriebenen, etwa 8-10.000 siedelten schließlich nach fast 10 jähriger Irrfahrt im Süd-Westen Louisianas und im Süd-Osten von Texas. Sie ernährten sich von Landwirtschaft und Fischfang. Viel lernten sie von den bereits dort lebenden katholischen Deutschen, Iren und Spaniern, von denen sie freundlich aufgenommen wurden. Schon bald vermischten sich die Völker. Als größte ethnische Gruppe dominierten die Acadiens bald die Sprache, soziale Strukturen und Traditionen. Die Acadiens wollten jedoch aufgrund ihrer unheilvollen Vergangenheit nicht viel mit dem Rest der "Südstaatler" zu tun haben. In den Sümpfen und Prärien waren sie weitgehend isoliert. Später, im Zuge der Amerikanisierung mußten sie sich immer mehr bewußt werden , das sie tatsächlich Amerikaner waren. Die Amerikaner nannten die, einen französischen Slang sprechenden L’Acadiens, schlicht "Cajuns", ein Wort das schon bald mit Dummheit, Inzucht und Mord in Verbindung gebracht wurde. Die Cajuns konnten schwer mit diesem Stigma umgehen und wurden schließlich gezwungen, in der Schule englisch zu lernen. Sie wurden am Ende doch Amerikaner und sind heute als Cajuns etabliert.  Süddeutsches Konzertinatreffen (Herbst) auf der Tannenburg (Hohenlohe)12. - 14. Oktober 2012 Dieser Kurs ist ein "Nebenprodukt" des Süddeutschen Konzertina-Treffens in Wartaweil. Dort traf man sich zunächst zweimal jährlich, im Frühjahr und im Herbst. Allerdings kam ein beträchtlicher Teil der Teilnehmer aus dem Norden und so kam die Idee auf, eines der beiden Treffen weiter nach Norden zu verlagern. Die Tannenburg hat sich als ein urgemütliches Quartier mit sehr freundlichen Wirtsleuten erwiesen, so dass die Herbsttreffen vorerst hier stattfinden werden. Die Burg liegt ziemlich zentral im Dreieck Stuttgart - Würzburg - Ulm. Das gemeinsame Musizieren wird dieses Jahr von Jürgen Leo angeleitet, der die Konzertinaschulen Nr. 3 und Nr. 26 auf der Bücherseite verfasst hat. | The 25th Shetland Accordion and Fiddle Festival dates are Thursday 11th to Monday 15th October 2012. The annual festival mainly concentrates on music provided by Shetland's two most popular instruments - the accordion and the fiddle. The festival takes place over a hectic four-day period in early October. As with Shetland Folk Festival, musicians from all over the world perform at the event, although emphasis is on Scottish Dance music. Local musicians feature prominently in the event line-up. Tunes are swapped and musicians make new friends in the sessions that are an important part of the festival; younger musicians find them especially valuable in broadening their experience. Adopting the tried and trusted format of widespread community involvement, the event incorporates most areas of Shetland. It culminates in one of the biggest traditional dances to take place anywhere in the UK. Around a dozen different dance bands take it in turn to perform to 1,500 enthusiasts in the local sports centre in what amounts to a highly enjoyable "traditional rave". Kursleiter/in Remo Gwerder und Marcel Zumbrunn 9-12.Oktober 2012 Remo Gwerder: Die Freude an der Ländlermusik wurde Remo Gwerder in die Wiege gelegt, da in der Familie die volkstümliche Musik mit Leidenschaft praktiziert und gehört wurde. Bereits mit 9 Jahren nahm er an der Musikschule Steinen-Lauerz Akkordeon- und Schwyzerörgeliunterricht. Schon in jungen Jahren konnte er mit diversen Formationen auftreten. Remo Gwerder studiert an der Musikhochschule in Luzern Volksmusik und ist nun als Schwyzerörgelilehrer an den Musikschulen Oberägeri, Unterägeri und Neuheim tätig. Marcel Zumbrunn stammt ursprünglich aus dem Berner Oberland wo er vor rund 20 Jahren das Schwyzerörgelispiel erlernte und dieses seither sehr aktiv betreibt. Seine berufliche Tätigkeit teilt sich in zwei musikalische Sparten auf. Zum einen als Schwyzerörgelilehrer in der Region March/Obersee, sowie an der Musikschule Rothenthurm und zum anderen als Mitinhaber einer Musikproduktionsfirma mit Tonstudio in Lachen, wo vorwiegend volkstümliche CD-Produktionen realisiert werden. Marcel war langjähriges Mitglied der Örgelifründe Stockenfluh und spielt heute in den Formationen „Schabernack“ und „Berner Örgeliplausch“. Kursinhalt: Themen wie Begleitakkorde und Begleitrythmen sowie das Erlernen eines neuen "Stückli" nach Stegreif, Akkordaufbau und Zusammenspiel in der Gruppe bilden die Grundlage des Kurses. Ansonsten richtet sich der Kursinhalt nach den Bedürfnissen der Teilnehmer. Jeder Kursteilnehmer hat die Möglichkeit, individuelle Fragen in einer Einzellektionen zu klären.  26 October 2012 - 29 October 2012Doonbeg Willie Keane was Doonbeg's best known personality and a great exponent of traditional dancing. He came to prominence with the Mullagh Set which won numerous competitions throughout Ireland. After frequent appearances on TV, he toured the U.S. with Clare's best-known traditional artists and regularly taught set dancing at the Willie Clancy Summer School. His passing away in 1998 has left a huge void in Doonbeg. This weekend of music, song and dance is our tribute to him.
