 Video: The Opening Concert of the 2021 Coupe Mondiale in Munich was on the 13 October and featured the group Maxjoseph. With the special instrumentation, tuba, guitar and two Styrian harmonicas, new timbres are discovered and compositions are created that combine folk music elements with jazz harmonies, liven up classical music with pulsating rhythms and mix the familiar with the unfamiliar.  Video: “This is my baby!”: Tom's joy at his new accordion. Tom thanked the President of Pasco Italia, saying: “I’m delighted with him, and all the work of the factory. I’d like to say thank you very much.”In a nice touch, the company personalised the instrument with Tom’s name. Limerick Leader Newspaper reporter Nick Rabbitts, in Limerick, Ireland, included an online item recently about popular local busker Tom McNamara playing the accordion in one of his regular spots in the city centre. “For decades, Tom McNamara, who is 84, has played music across the city. But inevitably, his squeeze-box has suffered a bit of wear and tear in that time. One of his neighbours highlighted to the Limerick Leader last month that the musician needs a new instrument. Giansandro Breccia, President of Pasco Italia (picture left), which is based in Castelfidardo in central-eastern Italy, said he wanted to donate a brand new instrument to Tom.” Speaking to the Limerick newspaper, he said: “I read your story about Tom on the internet. Some Irish friends of mine confirmed to me that he is very popular not only in Limerick, but all across Ireland. My idea came immediately, why not [donate]?" “I’m 60 years old, and I have passed my life in the music business. I know for any musician, his instrument is like a child. So I understand Tom is looking for a new baby after a long time,” added the company’s President. | Biggest Accordion Shootout Finale in Tejano history planned at Conjunto Festival in Alice at La Vision Park on Nov 12 & 13 The finale will feature Grammy-winning and legendary accordionists in a history making event. The event created by Quatermoon Productions will feature Grammy-winning and legendary accordionists in the finale including David Farias, JR Gomez, Josh Baca of Los Texmaniacs, Anthony Trevino of South TX Homies, Lucky Joe, Frankie Caballero, Sunny Sauceda, Boni Mauricio, Joel Vasquez, Pete Ybarra, and the “Squeezebox Girl” Christina Valdez. Grammy winner David Farias, who will also perform with Los Hermanos Farias on Saturday, November 13, spoke to Tejano Nation about his participation in the finale. “I feel honored, it’s going to be a big accordion abuse with four, five, six accordion players up there so at the end it’s going to be a grand finale,” he said. “It’s going to be great. All these years, I’ve been doing music and being a part of this grand finale of all the accordions at this conjunto festival de parte de (from) Quartermoon Productions with Mr. Jim Luna, it’s going to be good!” Grammy winner JR Gomez, who will hit the stage on Saturday with his band, Los Conjunto Bandits, tells Tejano Nation he’s excited to be a part of history. “It’s awesome. She showed her talent at early years when she got the 1st prize in F.I.H. Japan Harmonica Contest tremolo class in 1988, and twice in the chromatic class in 1992 and 1994, and in World Harmonica Contest (USA) in the chromatic class junior in 1991. 1994-1998 she studied with Yasuo Watani at the Hohner Conservatory Trossingen, Germany. In 1997 she won 1st prize at the World Harmonica festival. After graduation she performs actively as a solist and also collaborated with chamber music groups all around the world. Since 2013 she is a lecturer at the Hohner Conservatory for Harmonica. |

 Herbstkurs 2021 vom 26.11. - 28.11.2021 in Mücke.Die Veranstalter bleiben hoffnungsvoll: Nach derzeitigem Stand wird der Herbstkurs stattfinden können, endlich mal wieder! Entsprechend der 3-G-Regel kann jeder teilnehmen, der geimpft, genesen oder getestet ist (Schnelltest oder PCR-Test). Pro Kursraum dürfen sich 25 Personen aufhalten, wobei geimpfte Personen nicht mitgezählt werden. Zudem ist das Hygienekonzept des Flensunger Hofes vor Ort für alle Anwesenden bindend. Da eine große Turnhalle auf dem Gelände vorhanden ist, können auch alle Teilnehmer*innen unter Einhaltung des Mindestabstands abendlich zusammenkommen. Ob jedoch auch das gemeinsame Tanzen möglich sein wird, lässt sich momentan noch nicht abschätzen. Da sich die pandemische Lage und die entsprechenden, lokalen Vorschriften stetig verändern können, wird gebeten, diese Angaben als Momentaufnahme zu betrachten. | Le dernier CA de TRADENVIE en date du 09 AVRIL 2021 a décidé de travailler sur une proposition artistique de grande ampleur en Novembre, du mardi 02 au samedi 06 Nov, afin de fêter les 30 ans de notre association. Mais les organisateurs doivent malheureusement signaler ce qui suit : Chères spectatrices, spectateurs, amis et fidèles de TRAD’ENVIE. Comme vous pouvez le constater, l’actualité de notre association est au ralenti. C’est tout un secteur culturel qui est depuis de longs mois à l’arrêt. Comme en 2020, pour 2021 nous avons tout essayé, en vain. La crise sanitaire est là. En 2021, nous avions pensé pouvoir au moins proposer une version du festival au mois de novembre mais malheureusement cela ne sera pas possible. Le dernier CA de TRADENVIE en date du 28 JUILLET 2021 a décidé de travailler sur une proposition artistique de grande ampleur pour l’année 2022 . Nous essayerons de rattraper le temps perdu, et en profiterons pour fêter les 30 ans de l’association (31 exactement !). Nous allons relancer dès le mois d’octobre 2021 l’atelier de danse des jeudis soir (une fois tous les quinze jours) salle Bernard IV à Pavie. Nous allons essayer d’organiser une grande soirée d’ici la fin de l’année 2021. Nous vous informerons dès que les choses se seront un peu décantées. | The 35th Festival de Acordeones del Río Grande de la Magdalena (35th Accordion Festival) will be held in Barrancabermeja, Santander, Colombia from November 11th to 14th, 2021. The event is organised by the Vallenato del Magdalena Medio Festival Foundation thanks to the support of the District Mayor, Governor of Santander and the Ministry of Culture through the National Cultural Concertation Program. The festival competition features traditional ensembles of Vallenata music and aims to preserve, maintain and promote national folklore and the traditional groups that interpret it inside and outside the country. | Die 14. Harmonica Masters Workshops waren ursprünglich für November 2020 geplant, mussten aber wegen der COVID 19 Pandemie abgesagt werden. Als Dankeschön an unsere Teilnehmer haben wir am 31. Oktober ein kostenloses dreistündiges Zoom Event mit allen Dozenten veranstaltet, das über 150 virtuelle Besucher aus aller Welt verzeichnen konnte. Nun schauen wir wieder voraus und haben die 14. HMW für Juni 2022 terminiert. David Barrett kann 2022 aus familiären Gründen leider nicht teilnehmen, hat aber versprochen, 2023 dabei zu sein. Für die Harmonica Masters Workshops 2022 werden Joe Filisko, Marko Jovanovic und ich wieder Kurse anbieten. Zudem freuen wir uns, zwei neue Dozenten engagieren zu können, die versprechen, frische Impulse zu setzen: Der temperamentvolle Marcos Coll wird eine Einführung in den Einsatz der diatonischen und chromatischen Mundharmonika in der Latin-Musik präsentieren, während der renommierte Hohner Affiliated Customizer und Virtuose der keltischen Musik, Joel Andersson, eine Einführung zur Mundharmonika in der irischen Musik unterrichten wird. Ein weiterer Dozent wird sobald wie möglich bekanntgegeben. Wie in den Jahren zuvor gibt Eric Noden einen Kurs zur akustischen Bluesgitarre und Riedel Diegel ist wieder für unseren Anfängerkurs am Wochenende zuständig. | The VIII International Student Competition of Folk Instrument Performers from CIS Universities will be held at the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music in Moscow from November 1st to 26th, 2021. The competition is supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music, and the Friedrich Lips Charitable Foundation. Bayan and accordion categories will be held on November 24th and 25th. Competitors must be students of musical educational institutions of higher and secondary vocational education. Wie kann ich Reparaturen durchführen, ohne etwas an der Mundharmonika zu beschädigen? Dies sind Fragen, die jede/n Mundharmonikaspieler/in immer wieder beschäftigen. In dem Workshop zeigen wir darüber hinaus, wie man die Ventile austauscht, Löseabstände einstellt und die eigene Mundharmonika pflegt und stimmt. Gabi Conzelmann vom Service-Team Mundharmonika der Hohner Musikinstrumente GmbH leitet diesen Reparaturworkshop zur Selbsthilfe. Sie kennt jede noch so kleine Schraube der Mundharmonika und hat während ihrer langjährigen Berufspraxis schon jedes Mundharmonikamodell aus dem Hause Hohner in die Hand und auseinandergenommen, gewartet und repariert. Sie ist also die perfekte Ansprechpartnerin, rund um die Wartung des eigenen Instruments. Events waren bis zum 6.November geplant! Trotz der beginnenden Erleichterungen und vielen geimpften Menschen ist reisen für US Musiker von und nach Europa schwierig und unklar. Die reduzierten Sitzpläne in den Clubs und Theatern, Reisen im engen Tourbus und vieles mehr sind immer noch unverantwortlich für alle. | The annual El Veterano Conjunto Festival honoring veterans, a Conjunto legend, and young musicians scheduled for November 7, 2021, in Robstown, Texas, has been postponed over COVID-19 concerns, organizers announced. The announcement was made in a social media post, “As you may know, El Veterano Conjunto Festival is an indoor event. The COVID-19 numbers had spiked up again and many are immune-compromised, as is our founder Ms. Linda Escobar, who was diagnosed with Lymphoma cancer in July of this year. After much thought and consideration, El Veterano Conjunto Festival committee members have decided to postpone our event until Sunday, February 6, 2022, for the safety of everyone.” The Conjunto music showcase, founded by Linda Escobar over 20 years ago in tribute to her father, Conjunto legend Eligio Escobar, not only honors veterans but shines a spotlight on the future of the Conjunto Tejano genre awarding over 60 scholarships for young musicians. The event will take place on Sunday, February 6, 2022, at the Columbian Civic Center (formerly KC Hall) in Robstown, Texas featuring performances from some of today’s hottest Conjunto bands from across Texas, as well as past scholarship recipients.
